Shots Fired Into House

On November 27, 2017, at approximately 01:49am, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to the 100blk of West Maple for gun shots into a home. The victim was inside his home when 4 shots were fired into his bedroom window. Prior to the shots being fired the victim had been in altercation with another male. After the altercation ended, the victim walked into his home and shots were then fired. A K-9 track was attempted but the suspect was not located.

Kalamazoo Teen Assaulted

Update: On Saturday, October 21st, 2017, PSO Caleb Dumond met with the victim and witness involved with this assault. PSO Dumond is a trained Police Sketch Artist. PSO Dumond was able to draft a picture depicting the suspect involved. Both the victim and witness were able to give detailed information as to certain characteristics they observed the suspect having. Attached is the sketch rendered by PSO Dumond:

Kalamazoo, MI: On Friday October 13, 2017 at approximately 7:00 a.m. an unknown male assaulted a thirteen-year-old female walking on the sidewalk. The incident happened near the intersection of West Maple Street and West Crosstown Parkway. The male suspect reached out grabbing the victim as he rode a bicycle by her. The suspect continued riding the bicycle away from the scene southbound on West Crosstown Parkway. The victim was not injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately sixty-years-old with a white “Scruffy” beard. He was wearing a red jacket, faded blue jeans, gray stocking cap and black wire rimmed glasses.

Officers respond to medical emergency at W Maple St YMCA

Kalamazoo, MI: On Friday February 17, 2017, at about 8:04 pm, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to 1001 W Maple Street, the YMCA, to the report of an unconscious person. The first arriving officer arrived within 2 minutes of the initial dispatch and found an unresponsive female. The female was being attended to by YMCA staff including a nurse and lifeguard, who were rendering CPR.

YMCA staff and Officers were joined a short time later by LIFE paramedics and an MSU1 physician. The team’s life-saving efforts were rewarded, after some 40 minutes of continuous CPR, when the female regained a pulse. The female was transported to Bronson Hospital for treatment but further information is unknown.

The investigation showed that the female suffered an unknown medical emergency while swimming. The female is a 60 year old resident of Parchment. The circumstances are not considered suspicious.
