Officers extinguish fire at Stadium Dr automotive repair business

Kalamazoo, MI: On Saturday, June 18th, 2016, at approximately 3:02 p.m., Kalamazoo Public Safety officers responded to the 2900 blk of Stadium Dr. to the report of a vehicle on fire inside an automotive repair shop. Upon arrival, officers encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from one of the work bays.

Everyone was able to safely evacuate the building and officers started fire suppression measures. After approximately 15 minutes the fire was extinguished.

Officers respond to robbery at Stadium Dr gas station

Kalamazoo, MI: Public Safety Officers were sent to the Phillip 66 gas station in the 3800 block of Stadium Dr. this morning at 6:02am for a report of an armed robbery. As the clerk opened the gas station, 2 masked men entered the business demanding money. One of the suspects displayed a handgun and struck the clerk with the gun several times. The clerk sustained a minor injury and refused medical treatment.

The suspects fled the business on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. A K-9 track of the suspects found they had run to the area of the Stadium Dr. Apts. in the 4200 block of Lakesedge Dr. where the track was lost. Both suspects were described as being in their early 20’s, between 5’8” and 5’10” tall and wearing dark clothing and ski masks. No further information is known about the suspects at this time.
