Officer recovers stolen bag

Kalamazoo, MI: On 8-11-16 at approximately 10:00 pm a patron was dining outside in the 200 block of the South Mall when a suspect approached and quickly grabbed his bag and began running away with it. PSO Ulberg was in the area conducting foot patrol at the time of the incident and was able to locate the suspect and arrest him. The victim’s property was recovered and returned to him.

The juvenile suspect was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home on the charge of Larceny from Person.

Quick crime reporting and response leads to larceny arrest

On July 10, 2016, at about 1830 hours, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers were notified by a concerned citizen regarding the larceny of a phone. A citizen reported having their phone snatched from their hand in the area of 200 S Kalamazoo Mall.

With the assistance of eye-witnesses and the use of a GPS cell phone application Public Safety Officers were able to track the stolen phone to a residence in the 1000 block of N Church. Once at the residence, Public Safety Officers located the stolen phone and were able to return it to the victim.

The suspect, a 14 year old resident of Kalamazoo was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home on a charge of larceny from a person. Charges are also being sought against an additional person for their involvement.
