Arrest Made in Connection with Missing Person

Kalamazoo, MI: On Thursday, June 28th at approximately 1:30 am, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers took a report of a missing person. A 24-year-old female was reported by family as missing. Family and friends hadn’t seen or heard from her since Sunday evening on June 24th.

During the investigation, at approximately 3:00 am, officers located a person of interest in the 4000 block of W. Michigan near the missing female’s residence. This subject, a 25- year-old Kalamazoo man, was questioned regarding the incident. Detectives from the criminal investigations division responded. During the investigation, a body was located in a creek off of E. Main Street near 26th Street in Comstock Townhip. The body found matches the physical description of the missing person. Detectives are awaiting formal identification of the body. An autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow, June 29th, 2018.

The 25-year-old Kalamazoo man was arrested for open murder and has been lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail. The case will be submitted to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Update: Body Discovered in Wooded Area

Kalamazoo, MI: On Sunday, January 28th 2018, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to the 800 block of N. Prairie Ave reference a body located in a wooded area.

The deceased has been identified as Mujey Dumbuya, a sixteen year-old Grand Rapids resident. Ms. Dumbuya was reported as a runaway on January 25th 2018 in Grand Rapids. She was last seen in the early morning hours on January 24th. 2018.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is investigating the incident as a homicide. Public Safety extends our deepest sympathy to the Dumbuya family.

Ms. Dumbuya was discovered wearing a black Columbia jacket, white and pink T-shirt with a print of Cinderella’s face on the front, blue jeans and pink Nike tennis shoes (her right shoe was missing).

Attached is a photograph of Ms. Dumbuya along with the type and color of Nike shoe she was found wearing when her body was discovered.

Missing Person William Henry Gray Recovered

Kalamazoo, MI: The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety reports that the body of Mr. William Henry Gray was recovered in the City of Detroit with the assistance of the Michigan State Police & Detroit Police Department Homicide Task Force.

A thirty-four (34) year-old, male South Haven MI resident has been arrested on open murder charges. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is still investigating the incident.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety extends our sincerest sympathy to Mr. Gray’s family.

Suspect arrested for the murder of Alfred Minka

On August 29, 2016 at approximately 12:30 p.m., a suspect was taken into custody for the murder of Alfred Minka. This comes just under a week after the third anniversary of his death on August 23, 2013.

Detectives continued to follow leads, tips and evidence to bring the person responsible for this crime to justice.

The suspect is a Kalamazoo resident and will be arraigned later this week for one count of open murder.
