Kalamazoo, MI: On Thursday, June 28th at approximately 1:30 am, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers took a report of a missing person. A 24-year-old female was reported by family as missing. Family and friends hadn’t seen or heard from her since Sunday evening on June 24th.
During the investigation, at approximately 3:00 am, officers located a person of interest in the 4000 block of W. Michigan near the missing female’s residence. This subject, a 25- year-old Kalamazoo man, was questioned regarding the incident. Detectives from the criminal investigations division responded. During the investigation, a body was located in a creek off of E. Main Street near 26th Street in Comstock Townhip. The body found matches the physical description of the missing person. Detectives are awaiting formal identification of the body. An autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow, June 29th, 2018.
The 25-year-old Kalamazoo man was arrested for open murder and has been lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail. The case will be submitted to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
