Warrant arrest leads to seizure of methamphetamine

On June 27, 2016, Public Safety Officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Washington Ave, after receiving information that a wanted subject was at that house. The officers were allowed inside the house by residents, where they located and arrested a 47 year old male for outstanding warrants. After the man was taken into custody, evidence was located indicating that drugs were also inside the house. A search warrant was executed, and drugs, including methamphetamine packaged for sales, were found. The man now faces additional charges, including possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine.

Tips lead to drug arrest and recovery of stolen property

tips_lead_to_drug_arrestKalamazoo, MI: On Monday, May 16, 2016 at approximately 08:30am, Kalamazoo Public Safety received two tips regarding illegal drug sales occurring from a vehicle in the 3600 block of E Cork. Officers responded to the area and located the suspect vehicle parked in a parking lot of a local business. The vehicle’s passenger, a 27 year-old Kalamazoo resident, was found to have several warrants for her arrest. The suspect attempted to resist, but was taken into custody by officers.

Further investigation found multiple components used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine inside the vehicle. Additionally, over $500 worth of stolen merchandise from several stores in both Kalamazoo County and Allegan County was located. The suspect was arrested on multiple charges to include Operating and Maintaining a Meth Lab, Resisting and Obstructing Arrest, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property. The suspect was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail.

Investigators locate large amount of crystal methamphetamine, arrest suspected dealer

3700_easy_stKalamazoo, MI: On April 28th, investigators from the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team conducted an investigation in the 3700 block of Easy St in Kalamazoo. This investigation was in reference to the distribution of high quality crystal methamphetamine.

During the course this investigation, KVET investigators learned that a subject from Las Vegas NV had been trafficking large amount of crystal methamphetamines to Kalamazoo and utilizing local hotels to store and distribute the narcotics.

KVET investigators gathered intelligence and conducted surveillance of the suspect. Investigators observed the suspect making a hand to hand transaction and made contact with him. Upon making contact with the suspect, a large amount of suspected methamphetamine was located as well as a large amount of US currency. Investigators were able to identify two hotel rooms belonging to the suspect. Search warrants were executed on the rooms, where additional large amounts of crystal methamphetamines and US currency were located. In total, over 7 ounces of methamphetamine (over 1000 personal hits) and over $13,000.00 in US currency was located during this investigation.

The 27 year old Las Vegas man was arrested at the scene and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail. Charges of Possession With Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Delivery of Methamphetamine will be forwarded to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

KVET investigators locate active methamphetamine lab

meth_lab_componentsKalamazoo, MI: On March 24th, investigators from the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team teamed up with parole agents from the Michigan Department of Corrections to conduct late night compliance checks on subjects paroled in the County of Kalamazoo. These checks are to ensure subjects on parole are obeying their restrictions and are living in safe and supportive environments.

While conducting a compliance check in the 3700 block of Vanrick Dr, investigators and agents made contact with a 37 year old man who is on Parole and a 26 year old female. While speaking with the subjects, investigators and agents located an active methamphetamine lab and finished methamphetamine in their vehicle. The 37 year old man was arrested for parole violations and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail. The 26 year old female was released from the scene pending charges. Charges of Operating / Maintaining a Methamphetamine lab and Possession of Methamphetamine will be sought against both suspects. Certified Methamphetamine responders from KDPS responded to the scene and conducted the Methamphetamine lab clean up.

This is the second time in the past seven months that the same male Parolee has been arrested for Methamphetamine related charges during a late night compliance check conducted by KVET and MDOC.
