Investigation leads to stolen property and drugs

Kalamazoo, MI: Sunday, October 02, 2016 at approximately 2:30 p.m., Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to an area hotel regarding a subject that had not checked out on time. The caller stated that the subject was supposed to check out at 11:00 a.m. and was not responding to knocks at the door, further that he could be seen lying on the bed. Upon arrival Officers observed the subject lying on the bed and got no response. They entered to check his welfare and he was found to be sleeping, extremely hard. In plain view the officers saw methamphetamine and marijuana. The subject was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Marijuana with the intent to deliver. A search warrant was conducted and stolen property from several home invasions was recovered.

Stolen vehicle and firearms located

Kalamazoo, MI: On 8-10-16 PSO Boglitsch was on patrol in the 3800 block of E. Cork Street when he ran a plate on a suspicious vehicle that was in the parking lot of a nearby business. The vehicle was found to be stolen. A suspect exited the business and got into the vehicle. Officers took him into custody. An additional suspect fled the scene during the incident. Two additional suspects were located inside the business.

During a search of the vehicle officers located a loaded handgun, shotgun, suspected methamphetamine, digital scales, and packaging equipment. An 18 year old Kalamazoo man was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail for Possession of a Stolen Auto and Possession of Methamphetamine. Additional charges will be sought for the other involved suspects.

KVET investigators recover five pounds of crystal methamphetamine

Kalamazoo, MI: On July 23rd, investigators from the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team arrested a 36-year-old Ohio man in Kalamazoo Township for drug and weapons related charges. This arrest was the result of a month long investigation into the trafficking of Crystal Methamphetamine into the County of Kalamazoo from California.

In early July, KVET investigators began receiving information that a 36-year-old Ohio man was transporting large amounts of Crystal Methamphetamine into the Kalamazoo area. Investigators were able to identify the suspect and launched an investigation. Investigators learned that the suspect was transporting approximately 5 pounds of Methamphetamine from California to an address in Kalamazoo Township. Investigators also learned that the suspect has an extensive criminal history, including several convictions for drugs and weapons related felonies.

Investigators conducted surveillance of the suspect and arrested him before he was able to deliver the Methamphetamine. During the arrest, the suspect was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun on his person. A search of the suspect’s vehicle resulted in the discovery of over 5 pounds of Crystal Methamphetamine, two additional handguns and a large amount of US Currency. The street value of the Crystal Methamphetamine is over $300,000.00. The suspect was arrested for Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine and several weapons related charges. The suspect was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail.

KVET investigators also worked with Ohio law enforcement officials during this investigation. Due to this investigation, a search warrant was executed on the suspect’s home in Ohio. This search warrant resulted in the seizure of additional large amounts of Crystal Methamphetamine, several guns and a large amount of US Currency.

The Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office reviewed the case and authorized several felony charges including, Delivery of Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felony Firearm, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

On Monday, July 25th, the suspect in this investigation, 36-year-old Buddy Randall Parker from Fairfield, Ohio was arraigned on these charges in Kalamazoo County District Court. A $2 million cash/surety bond was set for Parker who is currently being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail.

Drugs and money seized

Kalamazoo, MI: On July 20, 2016, at about 1930 hours, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety received a tip from a concerned citizen regarding a wanted subject who was in the 4300 block of S. Burdick.

Officers responded to the area and located the man, a 29 year old resident of Kalamazoo, arresting him on his warrant. During a search of his person, officers located meth and a large sum of US currency, which were seized. The suspect is currently lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail awaiting arraignment on his warrant and a new charge of Possession of Meth.

Directed patrol targeting drug activity leads to the arrest of two suspects

On June 17, 2016, at about 2205 hours, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers conducted a directed patrol in the 600 block of Lake Street targeting illicit drug activity. The investigation included a traffic stop and execution of a search warrant.

The traffic stop resulted in the arrest of a 54 year old Dowagiac resident for Possession of Crystal Meth. The search warrant resulted in the arrest of a 29 year old Kalamazoo resident was arrested for Possession with Intent to Deliver Crystal Meth. During the search warrant a large quantity of crystal meth, packaging material, US currency, digital scale, and marijuana were seized. Both suspects were lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail.
