Update: Female shot during disagreement, suspect surrenders

On Wednesday July 6, 2016, the suspect in this incident, Kharis D. Richardson, was arraigned on the following 6 (six) charges: Assault with intent to murder, felony firearm, felon in possession of firearm, felony firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and domestic violence.

Mr. Richardson, 10-30-90, has children in common with the victim.

The victim is still in stable condition at Borgess Hospital after receiving 4 (four) gun shots to her upper torso. The weapon used in this incident has not been recovered.

Female shot during disagreement, suspect surrenders

Kalamazoo, MI: On Monday, July 4th, 2016, at approximately 10:33 P.M., Kalamazoo Public Safety officers responded to the 1500 block of Krom Ave in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim down on the ground, from apparent gunshot wounds. Officers gave immediate medical attention. The victim was transported by LIFE Ambulance to Borgess Hospital.

Officers developed suspect information regarding a 25 year-old male. Approximately an hour and a half after the shooting, the suspect showed up at KDPS headquarters and surrendered to authorities. The suspect, a 25 year-old Kalamazoo resident is currently lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail awaiting arraignment. The victim, a 22 year old female Kalamazoo resident, is currently in stable condition.
