On July 13, 2016 around 02:42 pm., Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to the area of the Kalamazoo Mall and Michigan Ave regarding a report of a suspect stealing a cell phone. Upon making contact with the victim she reported that she was approached by three males on bicycles and as they rode by one male took the cell phone right out of her hand as she was using it. The incident was captured by several cameras downtown and a description was immediately put out for the suspects. Sgt Sanderson located the three suspects near the intersection of W Paterson and Douglas and upon attempting contact the three subjects fled. Two of the three were located and arrested with the victim’s cell phone and a realistic appearing facsimile hand gun in their possession. The two suspects were lodged on charges of larceny from a person and resisting and obstructing police. The third suspect in this case was also identified and charges are being sought for his arrest.
