Window smashed on police cruiser

On August 14, 2016 at approximately 4:30 p.m., a Kalamazoo Public Safety Officer exited the Public Safety building located in the 1400 block of Howard St. A male was observed using a shovel to damage the windshield of a police cruiser. Upon being contacted, the subject immediately placed the shovel on the ground and told officers to take him to jail. He informed officers that he damaged the windshield of the cruiser because he was upset with his girlfriend. He was taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail. The subject was identified as a 48 year old Kalamazoo resident.

Officers respond to rollover accident, minor injuries reported

Kalamazoo, MI: On Wednesday June 29, 2016, at approximately 2:35 p.m., Kalamazoo Public Safety officers responded to the intersection of S Westnedge Ave and Howard St for a report of a vehicle accident, where one vehicle had rolled over.

A 29 year old Decatur resident was travelling southbound on Westnedge Ave in an SUV type vehicle. A 19 year old woman from Kalamazoo was travelling east on Howard St and was distracted. As a result, she ran a the red light, colliding with the side of the other vehicle causing it to roll onto its side. The Decatur woman suffered minor scrapes and bruises, the occupants of the other vehicle did not sustain any injuries. All parties were evaluated by paramedics on scene and released.
