Second suspect identified for the shooting death of Jacob Ryan Jones

The second suspect has been arraigned and identified as Jordan Dangelo Waire, 2-10-96, a Muskegon resident. He was arraigned on felony murder, armed robbery, felon in possession and 3 counts of felony firearm.

Second suspect arrested for the shooting death of Jacob Ryan Jones

On December 15, 2016 at approximately 9:00 p.m. a second suspect was taken into custody for the shooting death of Jacob Ryan Jones. The suspect, a 20 year-old native of Muskegon, was arrested without incident in Muskegon and will be lodged in Kalamazoo County Jail.

Without the cooperation of WMU, WMU PD, MSP, several tips and leads, this case could not have been solved as quickly as it was.

No further information regarding the person in custody will be released at this time. The name will be released after the arraignment which will possibly be Monday, December 19, 2016.

Update: Homicide under investigation

***Victim Identified***

The victim in this case has been identified as Jacob Ryan Jones, white male, 12-26-1996. We give our condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Jones.

Kalamazoo Public Safety has made an arrest in the shooting of a WMU student at approximately 4 pm today. One person is in custody for open murder, home invasion and armed robbery.

We are continuing our investigation following leads and tips. We are still looking for the other person involved in this tragedy.

No further information regarding the person in custody will be released at this time. The name will be released after the arraignment which will possibly be Monday December 12, 2016.

1991 cold case homicide of Annette Jones

Jones was found dead on November 13th, 1991 at 123 W. Dutton St. in Kalamazoo, MI. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is close to solving this case, but needs the public’s assistance with any additional information that is out there. One killed, two injured in shooting on Mabel St

Kalamazoo, MI: On Monday, May 23, 2016, at approximately 10:05 P.M., Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to the corner of Mabel St and Westnedge Ave. in reference to a shooting. A 38 year old male was found on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound. Officers began life saving measures, while Life Ambulance transported the victim to Bronson Hospital. The Kalamazoo resident was later pronounced dead at Bronson Hospital. A second and third victim arrived at Bronson Hospital within minutes of the shooting. Both sustained non-life threatening gunshot wounds. At this time they are listed in stable condition. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation.

The deceased has been identified as Niquay DeJuan Baker, 10-02-77, a Kalamazoo native who was currently residing in Illinois. KDPS extends condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Baker.

On Tuesday, May 24th, 2016 and into the morning hours of May 25th, Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division interviewed two persons of interest in the shooting death of Mr. Niquay Baker. At this time the names are being withheld for investigative purposes. No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing. Kalamazoo Public Safety would like to thank the community for the tips and information that has assisted with this investigation.
