Armed Home Invasion in 900 Block of Leebarton Ct

Kalamazoo, MI: On September 17, 2017, at about 3:21 am, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers were dispatched to the report of a home invasion in the 900 block of Leebarton Ct. On arrival, officers interviewed five victims who reported being robbed at gun point while inside a residence. The victims reported having personal property taken from their person and that the suspects fled the area on foot. Officers secured the area and attempted a K9 track. However, the suspects were not located. None of the victims were injured.

The suspects were described as 4 black males who hid their faces. At least one suspect was described as possessing a handgun.

Officers arrest home invasion suspects

November 24, 2016 by Kalamazoo Public Safety

Kalamazoo, MI: On Thursday, November 24th, at approximately 1230 a.m., Kalamazoo Public Safety officers responded to a report of two subjects attempting to break into an apartment in the 1500 block of Kickapoo Ct. A Kalamazoo Public Safety Officer was in the area conducting directed patrols to curb holiday thefts. This officer was able to quickly respond and observed one of the suspects’ exiting the home while the other stood watch. He was able to take both subjects into custody without incident. The investigation revealed one of the suspects had used burglary tools to break the rear slider door, enter the apartment and prepare items inside to steal.

The suspects, a 26 year old male and 29 year old male, were both arrested on Home Invasion charges and possession of burglary tools. Both were lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail.

Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers will continue to conduct directed patrols over the holiday weekend due to residents traveling for Thanksgiving. Public Safety reminds residents to secure their property while they are away.

Officers respond to a possible home invasion

November 7, 2016 by Kalamazoo Public Safety

KALAMAZOO, MI: On November 6, 2016, at about 5:23 pm, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to a possible Home Invasion in the 1200 block of Greenwood Ave. Initial reports indicated that four, armed men entered a home. On arrival, officers evacuated several residents from the home. Through a series of interviews, officers learned that no weapons were actually seen. Additionally, officers learned that only one of the four men actually entered by breaking in through a window. Initial efforts to call the suspect out of the house were put forth. Next, officers cleared the residence with the assistance of a police K9 finding no one inside. None of the residents were injured during the incident.

The suspects have not yet been identified. However, this case remains under investigation.

Suspect arrested after home invasion

September 28, 2016 by Kalamazoo Public Safety

Kalamazoo, MI: On September 28, 2016 at approximately 4:12 PM, officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of California Ave in reference to a Home Invasion. A male subject, known to the victim, walked in through an unlocked door to the apartment and assaulted the victim. When officers arrived the suspect was gone.

Through the investigation officers located the suspect vehicle used in the Home Invasion parked in a driveway in the 1000 block of Miller Road. Additional officers were called to the Miller Road address and the residence was surrounded. The suspect who was hiding inside the garage eventually came out and was taken into custody.

The 23 year old male subject was taken into custody for 1st Degree Home Invasion and Malicious Destruction of Property and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail. Additional charges for drug violations will be sought against the suspect due to drugs being recovered at the Miller Road address.

Home invasion suspect arrested

August 10, 2016 by Kalamazoo Public Safety

Kalamazoo, MI: On 8-10-16 Officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to the 3000 block of S. Burdick Street regarding a home invasion in progress.

At approximately 4:15 AM, a concerned neighbor called 911 to report a suspicious subject walking behind an apartment. As the caller was on the line they advised that the subject had broken out a window and entered an apartment.

Officers responded and, upon arrival, quickly spotted the suspect carrying a large TV outside of the apartment. The suspect was then taken into custody. The 45 year-old Kalamazoo man was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail for Home Invasion.
