Investigation leads to crack cocaine and marijuana

Kalamazoo, MI: Saturday, October 01, 2016 at approximately 10:00 a.m. Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to the report of shots fired at a vacant home in the 200 block of E. Frank St. Upon arrival Officers observed a vehicle leaving the driveway of the vacant home. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle while other Officers checked the home. No victim or suspects were found inside the home. However, the traffic investigation revealed a 22 year old Kalamazoo resident wanted on outstanding arrest warrants. Another 22 year old Kalamazoo resident was in possession of crack cocaine, marijuana and over $600 in cash. This person was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail for Possession of crack cocaine and marijuana with the intent to deliver. No weapon was located in this investigation.

Citizen complaints lead to crack cocaine seizure

Kalamazoo, MI: Thursday, June 23, 2016 at approximately 9:30 a.m. Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers put forth efforts to address crime in the area of Ada St. and Woodbury. This was a continuation of daily efforts to address community concerns of illicit drug sells. At approximately 10:00 a.m. officers observed a narcotics transaction in the 600 block of Ada St. Contact was made with a 33 year old Kalamazoo resident who was found to be in possession of crack cocaine and had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. At approximately 1:00 p.m. officers served a search warrant also in the 600 block of Ada St. Several baggies of crack cocaine, marijuana and a scale were located. $6000 in cash was forfeited. A 33 year old Kalamazoo resident was arrested for possession with the intent to deliver crack cocaine and maintaining a drug house.

Two suspects arrested on firearm and drug charges

On June 11, around 9am, Kalamazoo Public Safety officer Tim Millard conducted a traffic stop in the 500blk of W North St for a moving violation. The driver and front seat passenger quickly exited the vehicle and were detained. A K-9 alerted on the vehicle and Ruger .22 revolver was located under the driver’s seat. During a search of the front seat passenger a delivery amount of crack cocaine and several hundred dollars were seized.

The driver is a Kalamazoo resident in his thirties. The driver was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, attempted resisting and obstructing and driving on a suspended license. He was out on circuit court bond for a previous gun case. The front seat passenger is also a Kalamazoo resident in his thirties. He was arrested for possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine and attempted resisting and obstructing.

KVET investigators execute search warrant, locate suspected drugs

oshtemo_andover_drugsKalamazoo, MI: On April 19th, investigators from the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team executed a search warrant in the 3200 block of Andover Dr in Oshtemo Township. This warrant was in reference to an on-going investigation into the distribution of high quality heroin.

During a search of the home, investigators located suspected crack cocaine, a large amount of high quality heroin, a large amount of ecstasy (MDMA) and materials used in the packaging of heroin.

A 34 year old Oshtemo man was arrested at the scene and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail. Charges of Possession With Intent to Distribute Heroin, Possession With Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine, Possession With Intent to Distribute Ecstasy and Maintaining a Drug House will be forwarded to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Investigators made contact with several citizens in the area in reference to the action taken during this investigation. Many of the citizens contacted expressed their appreciation to KVET investigators for addressing this problem house.
