Kalamazoo, MI: On Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at approximately 4:30 P.M., Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers were on patrol in the 1000 block of Bridge St. An officer recognized a male with a long criminal record, who is known to carry guns, and who was wanted on a court order. Officers saw the person trying to tuck an object into his pants as he was walking.
The male looked up and saw the patrol car and tried to run away. Officers ordered him to stop as they gave chase, but he refused to stop. Officers saw the person throw an object next to a house as he fled through yards in the neighborhood. When the fleeing male was unable to jump over a fence, officers were able to take him into custody. Officers went back to where they saw the man throw the object and recovered a fully loaded semi-automatic pistol.
The male, a 17 year old Kalamazoo resident, was arrested for CCW, felony firearm, resisting and obstructing a police officer, and possession of marijuana.
