Arrest Made in Fatal Hit-and-Run Investigation

An arrest has been made in connection with the fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred March 25 along South Westnedge Avenue.

Darqareoin Damont Mills, 29, was taken into custody in Haywood County, Tennessee, on outstanding warrants issued by the Kalamazoo County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney on April 29, 2026. The warrants charge Mills with second-degree murder and failure to stop at the scene

KVET and CRT Seize Four Illegal Firearms, Arrest Three Individuals

On April 23, 2026, members of the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (KVET) and Crime Reduction Team (CRT) conducted a directed patrol related to gun violence on the city’s east side neighborhoods. During the directed patrol four illegally possessed firearms were seized, resulting in three arrests.
