Kalamazoo, Michigan:

On Saturday, September 18, 2021 officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety conducted a directed patrol in the 400 Block of West Frank Street in response to citizen complaints of drug loitering, fighting, and gun violence.

While monitoring the area covertly, officers observed several subjects showing each other extended firearm magazines, as well as other suspicious behavior centered around a parked vehicle.  Officers approached and contacted these individuals.  During this contact firearms could be seen inside the passenger compartment of the parked vehicle.  Officers searched the vehicle and located controlled substances, digital scales, and several magazines filled with ammunition.  Several of the magazines recovered were high capacity and one of them contained armor piercing ammunition.

Two suspects were contacted and identified as 19- and 23-year-old Kalamazoo residents.  They were arrested and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail where they await arraignment on weapons offenses.

Anyone having information regarding this incident or any incidents involving gun violence is asked to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 337-8139 or Silent Observer at 343-2100.
