Felonious Assault, Juvenile arrested

Kalamazoo, MI:

On 2/9/2021 at approximately 11:15am, Public Safety Officers responded to the 1300 block of California for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, Officers located a 45-year-old male suffering from a non-life-threatening stab wound to his chest. The male advised officers that he sustained the injury after a family member threw two knives at him. One of the knives struck him in the chest while the second knife missed him.

The suspect, a 14-year-old male from Kalamazoo, left the address on foot prior to officer’s arrival but was located a short distance away. The suspect was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home on the charge of felonious assault.

Fire at Borgess Hospital

On 12/15/2020, at approximately 10:45 am, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety along with Kalamazoo Township Fire Department responded to Borgess Hospital for the report of an fire in the building. Officers arrived quickly and aided by the fire suppression system were able to extinguish the fire. There were no serious injuries and the incident is currently under investigation.

Shots fired into car

Shots fired into car

Kalamazoo, MI: On 12-04-2020 at approximately 4:02pm Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to the intersection of W. Michigan Ave and N. Westnedge Ave regarding reports of gunshots being fired at a car. Witnesses stated that a male subject had fired gun shots into a car at this intersection and then left the area on foot. As Officers arrived in the area, the victim contacted Dispatch to report that he was shot at by a known subject.

A K-9 track for the suspect was done but the suspect was not located. Although the suspect was not located, there is no threat to the public at this time and this incident appears to be isolated as the victim and suspect are known to each other. The victim in this case was not injured but the vehicle he was in was struck by gunfire.

Shots fire one person injured

Shots fired; one person injured.

Kalamazoo, MI:

On November 27th, 2020 at approximately 3:15 pm, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded to the 400 block of Reed Ave for a report of shots fired. As officers were checking the area, dispatch received a call from an area emergency room reporting that a victim had arrived. The victim, a 17 year old Kalamazoo man, said that he was sitting inside a parked car when he was suddenly struck by gunfire. The suspect left in an unknown direction. Based on the information provided by the victim, officers located the shooting scene, and recovered evidence of the crime. As of this time, the suspect has not been located or identified. The victim is being treated, and is in stable condition.

Shots fired into an Occupied Home

Shots fired into an Occupied Home

On 11.27.2020 at approximately 1446 hours Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to the 1300 block of Bridge Street in reference to the report of multiple shots fired. It was further reported that a white vehicle that was involved in the shooting was seen leaving the immediate area. As officers arrived on scene several shell casings were located. Shortly thereafter it was learned that a residence in the immediate area had also been struck by gunfire.

Officers canvassed the area, and attempted to locate the involved vehicle, however no vehicle or suspects were located. While the residence was occupied with an adult and a toddler during the shooting, there were no injuries.
