Structure Fire

Kalamazoo, Michigan:

On Friday, March 25, 2022, at approximately 12:17 A.M., Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety was dispatched to 1000 block of E Vine Street for a report of a house fire.  Upon officer’s arrival, heavy smoke and fire was seen coming from the vacant home.  The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes.  No injuries were reported.

The Kalamazoo Public Safety Fire Marshall is investigating the incident.

25-year-old struck by gunfire

25-year-old struck by gunfire

Kalamazoo, Michigan:

On Tuesday, March 15, 2022,  at 8:27 P. M., a 25-year-old Kalamazoo resident arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound.  Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers investigated the shooting, and the scene of the shooting was in the 600 block of S Rose Street.    

The victim had a non-life-threatening injury and was treated and released from the hospital.   It was determined during the investigation, the subject with the gunshot wound also had a firearm during the incident.  He was arrested on various weapon offenses.  The other suspect involved in the shooting has not been identified.

Multiple gun shots in apartment complex

Kalamazoo, Michigan:

On Saturday, March 5, 2022, at approximately 7:08 P.M., Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to the 2100 block of Inverness Lane for multiple reports of gun shots. 

Upon officers’ arrival,  they located a 15-year-old Kalamazoo resident who had been shot at while walking but was not injured.    No suspects have been identified.

17-year-old struck by gunfire

Kalamazoo, Michigan:

On Saturday, March 5, 2022, at approximately 6:31 P.M., a victim of a gunshot wound arrived at a local hospital.  During the investigation, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officer located the scene of the shooting in the 1200 block of James Street.

The victim, a 17-year-old Kalamazoo resident, was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.  No suspects have been identified.

4 Suspects in custody after recovery of stolen vehicle

4 Suspects in custody after recovery of stolen vehicle

Kalamazoo, Michigan:

On Saturday, February 12, 2022, at approximately 9:07 P. M., Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers located a vehicle that had been reported stolen in the 1100 block of Bridge Street.  When officers attempted to stop the stolen vehicle,  the driver fled in the vehicle and crashed into a fence in the 1200 block of Riverview Dr.   A Kalamazoo Public Safety K9 was used to locate three of the suspects who had fled on foot.  One suspect was taken into custody at the crash scene.  A gun was recovered in the stolen vehicle.  There were no reported injuries.

All four suspects were arrested on various felony charges.
