Assault suspect arrested after standoff with police

Kalamazoo, Michigan:

On Saturday, January 16, 2021 at approximately 5:32 P.M, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of March Street for a report of a man with a firearm who threaten the victim at the home.  The suspect barricaded himself in the home upon police arrival.  There were no reported injuries.

The Kalamazoo Metro SWAT Team responded to the incident and after a 6-hour standoff, the suspect surrendered to police without incident.  The suspect, a 32-year-old Kalamazoo resident, was arrested on weapon charges.  A second suspect, a 34-year-old Kalamazoo resident, was also arrested on felony charges. 

The Criminal Investigation Division is investigating this incident.

Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle

Kalamazoo, Michigan:

On Friday, January 1, 2021, at approximately 2:56 am, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to the 700 block of N Park St for a report of a car vs. pedestrian crash.  Upon officer’s arrival, a female was found in the roadway suffering from life threatening injuries.  Lifesaving efforts were made, and the pedestrian was transported to a local hospital and is listed in serious condition.      


The involved vehicle in the crash left the scene and has not been located.  N Park St, also referred to as Business Loop 131, will be closed for several hours while the crash is investigated.

The Criminal Investigation Division is investigating this incident.

Two People Shot While in a Vehicle

Two People Shot While in a Vehicle

Kalamazoo, Michigan:

On Friday, January 1, 2021, at approximately 2:12 am, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to the 400 block of Bellevue Pl for a report of two people shot inside a vehicle.  Upon officer’s arrival, they located the scene of the shooting but no victims.    


A short time later two victims arrived at a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds related to this incident.  A 39-year-old Kalamazoo resident and a 21-year-old Kalamazoo resident were suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.  

The Criminal Investigation Division is investigating this incident.

Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested

Kalamazoo, Michigan:

On Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at approximately 6:09 pm, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of S. Westnedge Ave for a report of an armed robbery.  The suspect entered the store and indicated a weapon.  The suspect then stole an undetermined amount of money and property from the store and then fled on foot. A police K9 was called to the scene however the suspect was not located.

At approximately 9:15 pm, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Terrace Ct for a trouble with subject.  Further investigation led to evidence from the previous robbery.  A 26-year-old Kalamazoo resident was arrested for armed robbery and resisting and obstructing arrest. 

The Criminal Investigation Division is investigating this incident.

Man Shot

Man Shot

Kalamazoo, MI:

On December 24th Public Safety officers responded to the 1300 block of N Park for the report of a man shot.  The victim informed police that they had been robbed somewhere on Drake Rd but was not able to provide an exact location or suspect description.  KDPS did not take any calls for gun shots in the time period that the victim said they were robbed. 

The victim was transported to Bronson Hospital with what appeared to be a single, non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
