Subject shot 500 N Park Street

On August 21, 2020, at approximately 10:20 am, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to reports of shots being fired with a victim on scene in the 500 block of North Park Street. An adult male victim was found on scene and transported to a local hospital in stable condition. One suspect was located several blocks away and was taken into custody. The second suspect has also been identified but is not yet in custody.

KDPS is looking for a black male 24 years old, approx. 6’ tall with a slim build, wearing a white t-shirt, white shorts and white shoes at the time of the shooting. A wheelchair was used by the suspects at the time of the incident, but it was found abandoned near the shooting location.

Subject shot 700 N Riverview

On August 11, 2020, at approximately 11:46 am, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to reports of a subject shot in the 700 block of N. Riverview Drive. Arriving officers located a male with a gunshot wound to the leg who was quickly transported to a nearby hospital. The victim is listed in stable condition.

Officers are looking for a black male that was driving a darker Impala style vehicle at the time of the incident.

Subject shot, 500 N Rose Street

On August 10, 2020, at approximately 1:55 pm, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to reports of shots being fired at a red truck near the 500 block of North Rose Street. Shortly after the call, a subject arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds and is listed in stable condition.

Officers are looking for a taller black male that may have been riding a moped/dirt bike hybrid type vehicle just prior to the incident.

Firearms and narcotics recovered from traffic stop

On August 10, 2020 at approximately 12:26pm, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers received information that subjects were going to shoot up a home.  Officers learned the names of the subjects and what vehicle they would be driving to the location.  Officers located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation, three handguns and a variety of drugs were located inside the vehicle.  

As a result of this investigation, two adult males were arrested and lodged for multiple felony charges related to the possession of the firearms located and narcotics recovered from the vehicle.

Felonious Assault, Gun Recovered

Kalamazoo, MI: On Wednesday August 5th, 2020 at 2:06 P.M. an Officer from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) was flagged down regarding a felonious assault involving a firearm which occurred at several different locations throughout the city. The victims indicated that the suspects were near S Burdick St and Reed Ave. Officers located the suspects getting into a second vehicle and made contact with that vehicle. Four subjects were detained and a handgun was recovered from the vehicle. The victims subsequently identified two of the occupants of the vehicle as having threatened them with a firearm.


As a result of this investigation, two adult males were arrested and lodged for offenses related to the felonious assault and possession of the located firearm, additionally one juvenile male was apprehended and lodged at the juvenile home for felonious assault.
