KDPS Responds to Non-Fatal Shooting and Armed Robbery

Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) officers responded to two separate violent incidents Tuesday night, Dec. 17, including a non-fatal shooting and an un-related armed robbery. Investigations into both incidents remain ongoing.

KDPS Investigates Non-Fatal Shooting on Vanzee

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) is investigating a non-fatal shooting that occurred during the early morning hours of Dec. 17 in the 1800 block of Vanzee. At approximately 3:47 a.m., dispatch received multiple calls reporting gunfire near Stockbridge Avenue and John Street.

KVET Arrests Suspect After Shots Fired from Moving Vehicle

On December 12th, 2025, at approximately 1500 hours, members of the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (KVET) and Crime Reduction Team (CRT) were conducting a directed patrol in the 1900 block of Gull Road in Kalamazoo Township to combat illegal weapons offenses and quality of life issues.
