Woman Brutally Stabbed to Death

Kalamazoo, MI:

On Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 5:51 p.m., Officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to a report of shots fired with a female victim in the 2200 block of E Cork Street. On arrival, Officers encountered Taylor Anne Dragicevich who was mortally wounded not by gunfire but instead by a vicious knife attack. Ms. Dragicevich was stabbed multiple times including the face. Officers and LIFE paramedics rendered aid and transported Ms. Dragicevich to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a short time later.

The investigation led Detectives to execute a search warrant in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 21, 2023, in the 27000 block of 66th Ave in Lawton, Michigan. Detectives from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety with the assistance of the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office executed the search warrant. Detectives took a person of interest into custody and recovered additional evidence.

The investigation into the killing of Ms. Dragicevich a 28-year-old female from Galesburg is ongoing. Witnesses and those with information are asked to call the Criminal Investigation Division at 269-337-8139. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety wishes to extend its sincerest condolences to the friends and family of Ms. Dragicevich.

HOUSE FIRE

Kalamazoo, MI: Saturday, May 20, 2023, at approximately 9:47 p.m. Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to a structure fire in the 1400 block of West Main. Upon arrival, there was fire and smoke coming from the front porch of the residence. A quick exterior attack knocked the flames down and prevented the fire from fully extending into the residence. The fire was brought under control in 10 minutes

The fire damage was contained to the porch and the front of the residence. One resident and a cat escaped uninjured. No firefighters were injured, and the Red Cross was notified. The fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshall’s office.

KDPS responds to shooting

KDPS responds to shooting

On Thursday, May 18, public safety officers responded to the calls of a shooting victim on the 1400 block of Fox Ridge Dr. at 10:11 p.m.

Upon arrival officers found 42-year-old Tyquincy Tymain McFerrin with a gunshot wound and rendered immediate aid. Mcferrin was taken to Bronson Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:08 p.m.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety wishes to extend its sincerest sympathies and condolences to the friends and family of Mr. Mcferrin.

Kalamazoo Public Safety Investigates a Shooting

KDPS Investigates A Shooting

On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at approximately 5:00pm Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to the 400 block of Reed Ave reference numerous reports of shots fired.  It was later reported that a 32-year-old Kalamazoo resident had been shot.  The male suffered a non-life-threatening injury and was transported to a local hospital for additional medical treatment.

Traffic crash on I-94 leaves one person injured

Traffic crash on I-94 leaves one person injured

Kalamazoo, Michigan:

On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at approximately 11:48 P.M., Kalamazoo Public Safety Department responded for a report that a pedestrian riding a moped on I-94 had been struck by another vehicle near Sprinkle Rd in the construction zone. Upon officers’ arrival, they located the victim with severe injuries and an involved vehicle that was on fire due to the crash.

Public Safety Officers performed lifesaving efforts on the victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is listed in stable condition. Alcohol and speed do not appear to be a factor in the crash. The crash is still under investigation. East bound I-94 was closed for several hours but is now open.
