MDP Suspect Arrested

Kalamazoo, MI-

On Sunday, February 17, 2019 around 05:00 am, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety investigated two separate incidents in which downtown Kalamazoo businesses had multiple windows broken out, causing thousands of dollars worth of damage. Officers conducted an investigation at each location and were able to develop suspect information. Within a few hours, KDPS received another call about a subject who was actively breaking out windows at public facility on Drake Rd. Officers located the suspect on a nearby roadway and attempted to affect an arrest for malicious destruction of property. The suspect resisted arrest and was taken into custody after a short struggle. After the suspect was lodged, KDPS responded to yet another complaint of damage to windows at a downtown medical facility. It was quickly determined to be the same suspect in all three incidents.

The suspect was identified as a 49 year-old female Kalamazoo resident. She was arrested on felony charges of malicious destruction of property and resisting arrest. She was lodged at KCSD. The case is being further investigated by the Criminal Investigations Division.

Anyone having information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 337-8994 or Silent Observer at 343-2100
