Drug Enforcement (KVET)

The Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (KVET) is an intergovernmental cooperative drug unit comprised of sworn officer participants from the City of Kalamazoo and the City of Portage. KVET’s mission continues to be the detection and elimination of illegal drug distribution in Kalamazoo communities. Founded in 1991, KVET has worked diligently during its twenty plus years of operation to improve the quality of life for the citizens of the Kalamazoo area by arresting thousands of drug offenders, significantly reducing the number of violent crimes and other crimes associated with illegal drug activities.

KVET strives to perform innovative and effective drug investigations, provide tactical and technical assistance to other local, state, and federal entities, as well as to educate and train the community on drug activity and awareness. KVET is comprised of two drug enforcement teams, a DEA task force officer, a parole agent with the Michigan Department of Corrections, a prosecutor, and support staff.
