Shots fired leads to pursuit, suspect arrested.

Kalamazoo, MI:

On April 17th, 2023, at approximately 3:22 p.m., Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded to the 1500 block of Fox Ridge Drive for a report of multiple shots fired. First arriving officers learned that a male suspect had fired a handgun at two males. Fortunately, there were no injuries. Witnesses indicated that the suspect left the area in a vehicle.

Officers checking the area located and attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, which fled. After a brief pursuit, the suspect vehicle crashed into an uninvolved vehicle at the intersection of N Park St and W North St. The suspect was then taken into custody. He suffered only minor injuries. The driver of the other involved vehicle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The suspect, an 18-year-old man from Kalamazoo, was arrested for assault with intent to commit murder, fleeing and eluding, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 337-8120 or Silent Observer at 343-2100
