KALAMAZOO, Mich., March 28, 2023 — Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety today announced that it is using My90, a new community engagement tool from Axon.
Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) has launched a pilot program using Axon’s engagement platform, My90, as part of an ongoing commitment to enhance the quality of life for all by providing professional police, fire, and EMS service to the residents and visitors of Kalamazoo.
My90 is a tool used to engage the public, collect feedback, and improve outcomes following service calls. My90’s surveys generate constructive feedback and actionable insights, along with identifying specific ways to improve trust, safety, and equity when police contact occurs. Community members use the My90 tool to provide valuable input while maintaining their privacy. Agencies use My90 to better understand the impact they are having within their communities, from what is working well to what needs extra attention. Hours after a call for service, the caller will be texted a link where they are asked to fill out a survey regarding their experience with KDPS.
Following a traffic stop, drivers will be handed a card with a QR Code, whereby they can give confidential feedback about their experience with KDPS in a 1-minute survey.
“Every day here at KDPS, we are working to improve transparency” said Public Safety Chief David Boysen. “This is just one of our many new partnerships that will help build a bridge of trust with community members and help us improve as a department. At the end of the day, keeping the community safe is our ultimate goal and we will continue to work towards that.”
“We are excited to be working with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety to advance their goal of enhancing the relationship between citizens and Public Safety while providing better services to their community,” says Kona Shen, Axon’s VP/GM of My90. “We know that this type of feedback can build trust, strengthen relationships, and improve safety and we admire Kalamazoo DPS’s commitment to using this feedback to serve their community.”
Axon (NASDAQ: AXON) acquired My90 in 2021 as part of its mission to protect life, capture truth, and accelerate justice and is the global leader in connected public safety technologies.
This program will go live on April 1st.
