On October 20, 2022, at approximately 2:30 am officers with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety were called to the 1700 block of Knollwood Avenue by a resident that was aware of recent break-ins in the area. The resident reported that they witnessed two subjects attempting to break into a home.
When officers arrived in the area they located two suspects who fled on foot, upon sight of the police. Both suspects were quickly located and arrested with the assistance of a KDPS canine.
During the investigation, it was determined that these suspects are likely responsible for numerous home invasions that have taken place in the campus area recently. Detectives continued to investigate and uncovered evidence of additional home invasions that had not yet been reported to the police. Several thousand dollars of additional stolen property was located. Through this investigation, a third suspect was also located and arrested.
KDPS would like to acknowledge and thank our community members for their assistance and timely reporting of their observations which lead to the apprehension of the suspects involved.
KDPS reminds residents to keep valuables out of sight and locked up safely. Always, double-check that your vehicles and homes are locked and secure.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.
