Structure Fire

On Sunday, October 9, 2022, at approximately 3:32 P.M., officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to the 1200 block of Homecrest Avenue for a report of a garage on fire. When KDPS officers arrived, heavy smoke and flames were observed, and the fire had extended to another nearby garage.

KDPS officers were able to bring the fire under control within 10 minutes.  The initial garage was occupied, but the residents were able to self-evacuate. The second garage sustained minor damage.  No injuries occurred during this incident. 

The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s office.
