Patrol Car Damaged

Kalamazoo, MI: 

On September 17th, 2022 at approximately 4:20pm, Public Safety Officers (PSO) responded to the 100 block of E. Walnut after a male was seen throwing a “Molotov Cocktail” at an unoccupied KDPS patrol vehicle.  PSO’s arrived and confirmed that an incendiary device had been thrown at the car which caused minor fire damage. 

Several witnesses reported the suspect, who had thrown the device, was seen fleeing the area on foot.  The witnesses followed the suspect and guided PSO’s to his whereabouts.  PSO’s located the suspect and he was arrested. The suspect, 30-year-old male from Kalamazoo, was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail on multiple felony charges. 

The patrol car suffered minor damage.  The fire was put out by bystanders in the area using fire extinguishers.  A photograph of the patrol car will be provided.
