PRESS RELEASE

Felonious Assault / Carjacking

Kalamazoo, MI:

On July 7th 2022, around 6:00 PM, Kalamazoo Public Safety Responded to the 800 block of N Rose St for the report of a shooting.  Simultaneously, a call was received from a separate party that their vehicle had been stolen in the 100 block of W Frank St.   

A short time later a 27-year-old Kalamazoo resident arrived at an area hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.  Through the course of the investigation, the individual with the gunshot wound was deemed a suspect in the shooting and the suspect in the stolen vehicle that was now determined to be a carjacking.

The 27-year-old resident was arrested for carjacking and numerous gun related charges after being treated for injuries related to the shooting.  They were lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail awaiting arraignment.

Officers are still investigating the incident for additional suspects.
