Officers Investigate Stolen Vehicle

Kalamazoo, MI:

On Friday February 25th, 2022 at approximately 2:33 p.m., Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Officers located a stolen vehicle near Bridge St and Riverview Ave in the City of Kalamazoo.

Officers attempted to make a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle and it fled from Officers. Officers initiated a pursuit as the stolen vehicle was also suspected of casing a local business the day prior.

During the pursuit, the stolen vehicle crashed into a utility pole near Scudder Ct on Parsons St. All three occupants fled on foot and were taken into custody after a short foot chase.

One of the occupants was in possession of a loaded handgun which was later determined to be stolen from Three Rivers Mi. Officers located several pieces of evidence that are connected to mail theft and evidence of other property crimes from around the Kalamazoo Area.

One adult suspect was arrested for Fleeing and Eluding and Possessing a Stolen Vehicle. He is being held at Kalamazoo County Jail.

One juvenile offender was arrested for Weapons Charges and Resisting Officers. He is being held at the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home. The third occupant is a juvenile and was released to a parent.

This case is ongoing and additional charges will be sought for the mail / property theft.

Anyone having information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 337-8994 or Silent Observer at 343-2100
