Kalamazoo, MI:

On January 26th, 2022 at approximately 12:10pm, Public Safety Officers responded to the 800 block of West Cedar for a report of shots fired. The PSO’s arrived and spoke with a female who reported having a dispute with a male that she has a domestic relationship with. During the argument, the male pointed a gun at her. The male, suspect, then walked outside and got into an argument with a second male family member and subsequently fired a gunshot at him. The female victim was not injured as a result of the incident. The male victim left the scene prior to officers arriving and refused to cooperate with the police investigation. Based on the information received during the investigation, it is not believed he suffered any injuries during the incident.

The suspect then retreated into a house and refused to exit. Due to the circumstances, the Kalamazoo Metro SWAT Team responded to the scene. Kalamazoo Metro SWAT Negotiators were able to contact with the suspect and he eventually exited and was taken into custody without incident. A search of the apartment revealed evidence of the felonious assault that was initially reported.

The suspect, 19 year old male from Kalamazoo, was arrested on multiple felony charges stemming from the incident and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 337-8120 or Silent Observer at 343-2100
