On Friday, January 14, 2022 at approximately 6:00 P.M., officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety were made aware of an individual impersonating a police officer. The suspect conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Portage Rd near Palmer St.

KDPS officers are currently investigating the incident and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individual.

Officers have determined that the suspect was at the scene of an earlier traffic crash on that same day. Attached is a picture from the Officers Body Worn Camera at the scene of the traffic crash. This photograph is of the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect is an unknown white male and the vehicle is believed to be a dark colored Chevy Equinox.

Anyone having information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 337-8120 or Silent Observer at 343-2100
