  Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

Kalamazoo, MI:

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety and FBI have been investigating two bank robberies that had recently occurred in the City of Kalamazoo. The first one occurred on October 27th, 2021, when a male subject entered the Chase Bank, located at 141 E. Michigan at 10:20 am demanding money while indicating that he had a gun. The subject fled the area on foot after receiving a quantity of cash. Two days later, on October 29th, at 4:13pm, the same suspect entered the Community Promise Credit Union located at 1313 Portage Road, threatened tellers that he had bombs and then demanded money. The suspect then fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

During the joint investigation, the suspect was identified, and investigators learned that he was in custody in Steuben County Indiana on unrelated charges. Investigators traveled to Indiana and were able to gain a confession and seize additional evidence linking the suspect to the crimes. Charges were requested for the robberies and, today, November 18, 2021, the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office issued two charges of Bank Robbery. The 35-year-old Kalamazoo man will be arraigned on Friday, November 19th, here in Kalamazoo County.
