Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested
Kalamazoo, Mich. – The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) has been investigating six armed robberies of businesses that occurred between October 23rd and October 25th. During the incidents, the suspect entered businesses displaying a handgun and demanding money. During the investigation, investigators were able to identify the suspect responsible for all six of the armed robberies.
Below are the dates and locations of the robberies:
- 10/23/21 at 4:59 pm at Great Wall Chinese Restaurant, 3025 S. Westnedge
- 10/23/21 at 5:06 pm at Bottoms Up Convenience Store, 930 W. Michigan
- 10/25/21 at 6:51 pm at Autozone, 814 E. Cork
- 10/25/21 at 10:03 pm at Kingmart, 407 Mills
- 10/25/21 at 11:10 pm at Munchie Mart, 3626 W. Michigan
- 10/25/21 at 11:19 pm at Drake Party Store, 4717 W. KL Ave
Investigators from the Crime Reduction Team, Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team, and detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division all worked together to identify, locate, and arrest the person responsible for these crimes. On 11/03/21 two search warrants were conducted, one in the 1400 block of Lay in Kalamazoo, and the other in the 2100 block of Albatross in Portage.
During the execution of these warrants the 21-year-old male suspect was taken into custody and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail. The case will be forwarded to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office for formal charging on Friday, November 5th.
