Kalamazoo, Mich. – In the early hours of Sunday, October 3, officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to reports of an armed home invasion at an apartment complex on Michigamme Woods Drive.

Upon arriving at the residence, officers learned that the suspects – 3 armed men – had also sexually assaulted the resident.

The suspects then stole the victim’s vehicle, which led to a short vehicular pursuit that ended in the area of KL and 11th Street.

The suspects left the vehicle and fled on foot into the wooded area near the Paddock Apartments on Copper Beech Blvd. KDPS officers were unable to locate the suspects.

We are working diligently to gather all relevant information so that justice can be served.

The Criminal Investigations Division of KDPS is actively investigating this situation; however, there are no named suspects currently.

While we continue to work on this case, we encourage anyone having information regarding this incident to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at (269) 488-8911 or Silent Observer at (269) 343-2100.

We will keep the community informed as this case develops.
