KDPS investigates homicide

KDPS investigates homicide

Kalamazoo, MI:

After investigating the homicide, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety detectives were able to develop suspect information. On October 2nd, 2021 at approxmiately 4:45 pm, the suspect was taken into custody in Van Buren County, and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail. He is charged with open murder.

The suspect was identified as a 24 year old male from Kalamazoo. His identity is not being released at this time.

KDPS investigates homicide

Kalamazoo, MI:

On October 2nd, 2021 at approximately 1:29 am, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded to the 100 block of E Maple for a report of a shooting. First arriving officers located a male who had been struck by gunfire. Life saving efforts were performed until paramedics arrived. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local emergency room, where he was pronounced dead. As of this time, the suspect has not been located or identified. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division were called to the scene to investigate. The motive for the shooting is unknown.

The victim was identified as an 18 year old man from Portage. His identity is not being released at this time, pending notification of next of kin.
