Kalamazoo, MI:

On Tuesday September 28th, at approximately 10:00 a.m. officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety conducted a directed patrol in the 1000 block of West Paterson Street in response to citizen complaints of drug loitering, fighting, and gun violence.

During this patrol a traffic stop was initiated by officers.  While contacting the occupants one of them could be seen attempting to conceal a handgun with an extended magazine.  This occupant, a 21-year-old male from Kalamazoo was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.  Officers searched the vehicle after a police K-9 was called to assist. During this search an additional stolen handgun and controlled substances were located.  A second occupant, a 26-year-old male from Kalamazoo was arrested regarding the newly discovered firearm and narcotics.

The two suspects above have been lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail and await arraignment on several weapons and drug charges. A third occupant of the vehicle, a 31-year-old male from Kalamazoo was found to have warrants for his arrest and was also lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail where he awaits extradition to Wisconsin.

The incident is still under investigation and Public Safety is asking anyone with information on this stabbing to contact Kalamazoo Public Safety at 337-8994 or Silent Observer at 343-2100, kalamazoosilentobserver.com.
