Police vehicle struck during pursuit

Police vehicle struck during pursuit

Kalamazoo, MI:

On September 11th 2021 Kalamazoo Public Safety engaged in a vehicle pursuit after a stolen car from Chicago attempted to strike a Western Michigan University police officer.  During the pursuit the suspect vehicle had a collision with the lead Public Safety cruiser.  After the collision the driver fled on foot while two other occupants of the vehicle were detained regarding the investigation.  The suspect driver was identified however, after a K9 track, was not located.

Neither the occupants of the stolen vehicle or the involved Public Safety Officer suffered any injuries from the collision.  Due to the nature of the investigation and the location of the incident, Kendall Ave was shut down from Howard St to W Main St for approximately 40 minutes.
