KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety today announced the arrest of nine Kalamazoo youth – ages 13 – 17 – believed to be involved in multiple recent car thefts and shootings in Kalamazoo. The arrests – which were two separate situations – both involved stolen vehicles. Upon searches of the vehicles, multiple weapons and ammunition were found.

Of the nine arrested, five were lodged by the juvenile home and the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department.

These arrests follow a situation earlier this week when KDPS officers were dispatched to a call for multiple shots fired. Shortly after arriving at the scene and finding no victim or suspect information, KDPS Officers learned that a juvenile had just arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound.

The victim was uncooperative and did not desire prosecution.

KDPS urges anyone with information about crimes or violence in Kalamazoo; please contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety or the silent observer at 269-343-2100.
