KVET Operation Leads to Arrest of Armed Suspects on Portage Street

On June 21st, 2025, members of the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (KVET) and Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) Operations Division, with the assistance of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF,) were taking part in an operation to address gun violence in the City of Kalamazoo.

Marvin Humphrey Sentenced to 18–40 Years for 2024 Homicide

Marvin Delaney Humphrey, 53, has been sentenced in connection with the November 2024 homicide of 68-year-old Minette Suzanne Weaver.

KVET and CRT Apprehend Armed Suspect with Multiple Felony Warrants

On June 17th, 2025, members of the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (KVET) and Crime Reduction Team (CRT,) apprehended a suspect who had multiple felony warrants for his arrest. The information regarding his whereabouts was obtained from a tip sent through Kalamazoo Silent Observer.
