On 3/11/21 around 8:30pm, Kalamazoo Public Safety responded to a structure fire in the 400 block of Phelps Ave. First arriving officers located a residential structure that was completely consumed with flames. Fire suppression was complicated by active electrical wires that fell into the street, dividing fire fighters. Officers regrouped and had the flames extinguished 30 minutes later. One resident suffered a minor injury while escaping the fire and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the house and near-by vehicles were a complete loss.

The fire is currently being investigated by the Fire Marshal.

Anyone having information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 269-337-8139 or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.
