Gunfire Strikes Occupied Vehicle

On Tuesday, February 2nd 2021 at approximately 9:37 P.M. Officers with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to a report of a shooting near the intersection of S. Park St and Balch St. Once on scene, Officers located a victim inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound and immediately provided medical treatment.
The victim, a 32-year-old City of Portage resident, was transported to a nearby hospital for a non-life-threatening injury. This case is currently being investigated and no suspect/s have been arrested at this time.
