Traffic stop leads to the recovery of stolen firearm

November 15, 2020 by Matt Schemenauer

Around 4:00 AM on November 15, 2020, a Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Officer conducted a vehicle stop for speeding on Douglas Ave. near North St.  The officer observed indications of narcotics in the vehicle.  K-9 Murphy responded and detected the presences of narcotics inside the vehicle.  A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted, and officers located a stolen firearm and suspected methamphetamine.

A 17-year-old Kalamazoo resident and a 21-year-old resident were both arrested on charges of CCW, receiving and concealing stolen property and possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine.  They were both lodged at KCSD Jail.

Anyone having information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at (269) 488-8911 or Silent Observer at (269) 343-2100

By authority of:  Sgt. John Resseguie
