Traffic Stop Leads to Recovery of Stolen Firearm

On Saturday, November 14th, 2020 around midnight, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers were monitoring the intersection of Alamo and Douglas Avenue to address recent crowds and X-Train related activity.
A traffic stop was initiated by Officers on a vehicle in the 1300 Block of Alamo Avenue in relation to this activity. A short foot pursuit ensued, and the suspect was apprehended. Further investigation into the vehicle led to Officers locating narcotics, and an assault rifle reported as stolen out of the City of Kalamazoo.
The suspect, identified as a 19-year-old Kalamazoo resident, was arrested for multiple weapons offenses and lodged at Kalamazoo County Jail.
