Car vs Pedestrian crash

Kalamazoo, MI: On 09-12-2020 at approximately 02:07am Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to the intersection of W. Michigan Ave and Emajean Street for a report of a car that struck a pedestrian. Officers located 21-year-old female that was unresponsive, lying in the road. Witnesses stated that the victim attempted to cross W. Michigan Ave and was struck by a vehicle that was traveling through the intersection and had the right of way. The victim was transported to an area hospital and is listed in stable but critical condition at this time. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. DATE: September 13th, 2020

The victim in this incident has passed away from her injuries. The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Kalamazoo resident Connor Meert. KDPS extends its condolences to the friends and family of Ms. Meert. This incident is still under investigation.
