Argument leads to gunfire

August 16, 2020 by KDPS

Kalamazoo, MI:

On August 15th, 2020 at approximately 3:39 pm, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Officers responded to the intersection of March St / Washington Ave for a report of shots fired. By the time Officers arrived, both the suspect and the intended target of the shooting had left the area. After investigating, Officers determined that a male came to a residence nearby to confront two people about an ongoing dispute. The argument escalated when the suspect drew a handgun and fired a single round at a male with whom he had been arguing. Nobody was struck by the gunfire. Officers located evidence on scene, which supported witness statements regarding the incident. The suspect has been identified, but he has not been located for an interview or arrest. The names of the suspect and intended victim are not being released at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 337-8120 or Silent Observer at 343-2100
