Subject arrested for on-line threats

August 7, 2020 by Scott VanderEnde

On Saturday August 1st, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) was alerted by several members of the community regarding a threatening Facebook “Live” post. In the post the male subject was threatening violence on a Kalamazoo neighborhood in retaliation for a previous shooting that occurred the prior day.

KDPS Detectives investigated this on-line post and were concerned about this threatening content and the fear that it had created in the community.  On Wednesday August 5th, Detectives were able to secure a warrant for this subject’s arrest related to the on-line threats. Later that same day the subject was arrested without incident.

This subject a 26-year-old Kalamazoo residence, Jhontae Jamison, was arraigned on Thursday August 6th for making terrorist threats and using a computer to commit a crime.  He is currently being lodged by the Kalamazoo County Sheriff Office.

KDPS appreciates the community members that alerted us of this criminal activity. Anyone having information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 337-8139 or Silent Observer at 343-2100.
