Community Reports Lead to Arrest of Armed Suspect

On Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at approximately 1:00 am, Officers with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety were dispatched to an armed subject in the 600 block of Davis Street.

Community members contacted Public Safety after observing a vehicle whose occupant was loading a handgun and handling a large amount of currency.

Officers converged on the area and located the reported vehicle.  A stop was conducted due to a traffic violation and the above information. The operator of the vehicle was found to be in possession of, marijuana, packaging materials, a digital scale, approximately one-thousand dollars, and a loaded handgun with an obliterated serial number.

The suspect a 19-year-old Kalamazoo resident was lodged at the KCSO jail where they await arraignment regarding multiple charges of weapons and narcotics violations.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety gives thanks and acknowledges our community members who play an instrumental role in the effort to address gun violence and other criminal activity.
