Kalamazoo, MI:

On Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at approximately 11:30 pm Officers with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to the report of a structure fire in the 1900 block of Krom Avenue.  Upon arrival Officers located a vehicle and a home on fire.

Public Safety Officers worked to extinguish the fire; however, intense hoarding conditions slowed these efforts.  The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes.

A resident of the home sustained non-life-threatening injuries due to jumping from a window to escape the fire.  The resident was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this fire.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Kalamazoo Public Safety at (269)337-8120 or Silent Observer at (269)343-2100 or kalamazoosilentobserver.com.
