Traffic Enforcement Leads to Firearm Recovery

On Wednesday June 24, 2020 at approximately 7:30pm, Officers were conducting traffic enforcement in the 900 Block of W North due to community complaints of speeding automobiles.

An Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop in this area for a traffic violation when the operator ran from the vehicle on foot.  The Officer gave chase and was able to apprehend the operator in the 1000 block of Nola Street.

While fleeing from the vehicle the operator discarded a handgun which was recovered by investigating Officers.

The suspect, a 21-year-old Kalamazoo resident was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail.  The suspect awaits arraignment on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and resisting arrest.
